Just a note...
GOOD: They tore down the BurgerKing on Mt. Rushmore Rd. and are building a Sonic Drive-In in it's place.
BAD: They moved two old houses on Mt. Rushmore Rd. and are building yet another Starbucks in their place.

Sonic Drive-In happens to be one of those "Corporate Big Boys" that it seems like you despise so much (from your clever "like rollerskating in a china shop" blog). :o)
No offense, though.. I read a couple of your notes, and they are well-written. Kudos to you for the good grammar - that's rare in blog-land these days. I especially liked the "Nine years ago I had a crush on a boy..." story. Solid.
It may be corporate but, I agree, it's way higher up on the cool scale than Burger King. They have strawberry limeade slushies made with real fruit. It doesn't get much cooler than that.
The news on the Starbucks is sad but expected. I am honestly surprised that there aren't already at least 5. At least it doesn't seem like the other coffee shops are suffering.
